Ginger Shot Recipes for Blenders and Slow Juicers

Preparation Ginger Shot Recipes

There is a simple way to benefit from the positive effects of ginger: Ginger shots. These are highly concentrated mini drinks made from ginger, which are sensationally good for colds, can boost your immune system or heat us up from the inside and stimulate the metabolism. But a ginger shot also helps against digestive problems - e.g after a heavy meal. A ginger shot works like a 'digestive' bitter, but without the alcohol.

You can make a ginger shot either classically with a slow juicer by juicing the ginger or you can use a high-speed blender and make a mini ginger smoothie, which is mixed with other ingredients such as honey and lemon juice.
Here are some recipes for both methods of preparation:

Ginger shot recipes for the blender

If you don't have a slow juicer at home, but you do have a high-spedd blender, you can easily make ginger shots with a high-speed blender. The difference is that you use the whole ginger, plus you need liquid like orange or lemon juice to blend it. We also add honey to sweeten it. If you prefer the vegan version, you can of course also use vegetable sweeteners such as agave syrup or maple syrup. However, honey has an advantage: It has an antibacterial effect and makes the ginger shot even more durable.

You can combine the Ginger Shot from the blender with other ingredients such as the anti-inflammatory turmeric. Turmeric isn't nearly as spicy as ginger, and that's why you can add some black pepper to this shot. Pepper improves the bioavailability of turmeric and enhances its absorption by the body. In terms of taste, orange juice goes perfectly with it - blood orange juice is also welcome.

Dosage and application

Ginger shots out of the blender are much spicier than from a slow juicer, we explicitly give a few more tips on dosage and application:

You can either drink it pure - about a shot glass of 1 cl (10 ml) or diluted with water in a ratio of 1:3 or even 1:4, just find your way! If you drink the Ginger Shot undiluted, expect to feel its fiery finish in your throat - it warms you up all the way to your stomach area.
Of course, the Ginger Shot from the blender can also be turned into a fresh tea with hot water - extremely beneficial for a cold. However, it loses heat-sensitive ingredients.

CAUTION: Turmeric colors the blender jar yellowish. However, our experience shows that the colored turmeric residue is not permanent. After a few applications or preparations of green smoothies, the turmeric yellow is no longer visible.

Ginger Shot ingredients and recipe.

Ginger Shot Recipes for Slow Juicer

When preparing a ginger shot with a slow juicer, you don't need any ingredients other than ginger. The ginger is simply juiced, making it pure and milder to drink than when prepared with a blender. And yet, a juiced ginger shot has it all. Try it in small sips. If the ginger shot is too spicy for you, simply add a little water or add the juice of an apple - which of course was juiced. Both recipes shown here are for the slow juicers.

We appreciate your Feedback!

Carla from GrueneSmoothies.com

I fell in love with the first sip. In 2010 a friend of mine served me my first green smoothie. Since then, green smoothies are my absolute favorite breakfast. Quickly prepared, I start my day healthy, delicious and well nourished. I carry the feeling of this delicious healthy breakfast with me all day long - all the way through to the evening.
Nice side effect: Without renunciation or nutritional dogma, green smoothies regulate my desire for coffee, chocolate and all the other temptations.

Hello dear Green Smoothie Team!
I have now made the ginger shot with turmeric and oranges for the third time and even gave it as a gift, and I think it's great. You always have fantastic recipes and ideas, and I'm always looking forward to new recipe inspirations, but unfortunately, I often don't have enough time to try them out.
Thank you for your work and have a lovely evening,

Hello everyone,
I'm a bit surprised by the amount of honey (alternatives) needed for the shot... Is there a "healthier" option available?
By the way, the recipes are always great - we have tried many smoothies already and might give the shot a try as well :-)
Have a great weekend!

Hello Jeannette,
thank you for your comment. Since you need to make a certain amount of blended ginger shots, honey is also used for preservation purposes. For me, honey is also a remedy, which is why I find it very fitting in the recipe. Therefore, I cannot offer you an alternative.
Best regards,
Carla

I add ginger and turmeric to my AngelJ uicer almost every day, along with celery stalks, fresh pineapple, and parsley stems. This is a tasty drink for the liver, according to A. Williams.

Why is there no demonstration of green smoothies as with Thermomix
9/4/2023
Carla von GrüneSmoothies.de
Hello Marlene,

Thank you for your inquiry. A device demonstration like with Thermomix is not part of our marketing mix or customer service. Instead, we extensively present our blender and slow juicer models on our website; among other things, we provide numerous recipes that can be made in the blender besides smoothies. Furthermore, we attach great importance to promptly answering customer questions online or offline. And of course, you are warmly welcome to visit our store in Berlin-Kreuzberg.

Best regards,
Carla

Why do you squeeze the lemon for the shot in a high-powered blender? I thought this white skin under the peel would also be so full of vitamins. So why not peel thinly and then the lemon pure?
6/12/2023
Carla von GrüneSmoothies.de
Dear Christine,

of course you can do that, too. Tastes a bit more bitter and the consistency of the ginger shot is more pasty. Just try it out.

Carla

Hello,
are all your recipes always a serving for 1 person? I miss this info every time.
Kind Regards
2/8/2023
Carla von GrüneSmoothies.de
Hello Angela,

well, you can't give a general answer to that. It always depends on how much someone wants to drink or consume. With smoothies, it varies between 700-1500 ml per serving.
For the ginger shot: If you drink about 20 ml of it diluted with water every day, that's about 19 servings.
Best regards,
Carla

Hello,
what kind of blender can I use to make healthy ginger turmeric shots?
8/19/2022
Carla von GrüneSmoothies.de
Hello Lisa,

with any of our high-speed blenders that you can find in our store, you can prepare ginger shots according to our instructions. For example, with the Wartmann blender or the Vitamix TNC 5200.

If you have any further questions, feel free to contact us!

Hello, why is the pure ginger shot only shelf-stable for 24 hours in the refrigerator, while the one with lemon and honey can last for several days?
4/1/2022
Carla von GrüneSmoothies.de
Dear Yvonne,

Perhaps freshly pressed ginger shots are more durable than 24 hours, just give it a try. We have tested that the blended shots are durable for that long. Well, why is that? Mmhhh - maybe the honey preserves it, maybe the fiber - I don't know. But as a general rule, the fresher the shot is consumed, the more nutrients are retained.

Best regards,
Carla

Exactly, the ginger-turmeric shot made in the high-speed blender is definitely something else. In my Vitamix, it turns out wonderfully creamy and it's very flavorful. I actually prefer smoothies over juices anyway because I believe the dietary fibers enhance the quality.
2/21/2022
Carla von GrüneSmoothies.de
Dear Judith,

Thank you very much for your comment.

I think both juices and smoothies are brilliant in their own way to increase, and possibly improve, our nutrient intake.

Carla

Good morning, dear ones,

Just curious, do you have your recipes in a bound book format as well? If so, is it possible to acquire it? Or do you have all those amazing recipes available for purchase as a PDF? I would be thrilled to receive a brief feedback.

Now I have tried the Ginger Turmeric Shot in my Vitamix. Honestly, it didn't taste as good, and it wasn't finely blended like it is in the Angel Juicer. Furthermore, my Vitamix blender cup is now completely stained yellow from the turmeric, and I can hardly remove the color :-( What a pity! My recommendation is to prepare the shot using a Slow Juicer!
12/16/2021
Carla von GrüneSmoothies.de
Dear Gisella,

Of course - the Angel Juicer will definitely create a fiber-free ginger shot like almost no other device. The ginger shot variation made with a blender is, of course, something different - aimed at those who do not have a slow juicer at home.
You don't need to worry about container discoloration, as the turmeric color will fade over time. You can speed up the process by placing the container on the windowsill facing the sun or in a well-lit area.

Best regards,
Carla

Should there really be 100 g of honey in the Orange Turmeric Shot?
12/16/2021

Yes, definitely. But if that is too sweet for you, you can of course add less honey. Just test it out to your liking :)

Thank you very much for the delicious shots. I make similar smoothies myself, but instead of squeezing the oranges and lemons, I put them in the blender without peeling them. Is there anything wrong with that? The seeds and all the stuff just get blended and crushed with the smoothie.
Thank you, Jan.

You can definitely do that.

Thank you for the amazing recipes. We often make the turmeric shot. Can the ginger shot with apples also be prepared using a high-speed blender, or can the recipe be modified for that purpose?
11/16/2021
Carla von GrüneSmoothies.de
Hello dear Katja,

Thank you so much for the lovely feedback on our ginger shots :)
The recipe with apple is intended for the slow juicer; you could easily modify it and add freshly squeezed orange juice as well, since you need some liquid.

Carla

Eckhard
Hello, today I made a shot for the first time; I blended everything in the mixer and strained it through a sieve until it became thick like a paste. How can I make use of the paste? The recipes are amazing.
3/3/2021
Carla von GrüneSmoothies.de
Hello Eckhard,

To be honest, I don't understand why you used a sieve? The ginger shots in the blender are directly pureed and can be taken diluted with water - about a ratio of 1:3 or 1:4, depending on how well you handle the spiciness. Alternatively, you can pour 10-20 ml into hot water to make a tea. It's also delicious and soothing!
Best regards,
Carla

I have been making smoothies for several years now, and with each smoothie, I add 2-3 ice cubes (first thing) to ensure the smoothie doesn't heat up, allowing all the vitamins to remain intact. Especially for the shot, you need to blend it for a longer time due to the fibers, depending on the blender. I have the Vitamix, which is already powerful, and I let the shot blend nicely for 1 minute, resulting in a slightly warm, yet delightfully smooth texture. Adding ice cubes makes it wonderfully cool.

Hello everyone :) great recipes! I just made the ginger shot with turmeric and was wondering: if I only drink 10ml of it per shot/daily and it only stays fresh for 4-6 days... The math just doesn't add up. Could you please help me understand what I might have missed? Multiple times a day, 10ml each time? Thank you so much! Best regards from the snowy region of Allgäu! :) Claudia

Carla von GrüneSmoothies.de
Hello Claudia,

Thank you so much for your comment. It's wonderful to hear that you enjoy our ginger shots so much.
You can definitely dilute the ginger shot and drink more of it accordingly. Alternatively, you can use it to brew a tea - just adjust the amount to your liking. Just keep in mind that if you drink it undiluted, it's best to start slowly.

Sending warm regards,
Carla

Ginger turmeric shot, a super delicious thing and simply fantastic for boosting circulation in cold hands and feet. In the second round, I replaced the black pepper with more aromatic Szechuan pepper - which gives a lightly floral taste that I really enjoy.

Dear Barbara,

Thank you so much for the lovely feedback. We also really enjoy the turmeric version. However, I wouldn't recommend it for children or people with stomach issues - the latter should really drink it very diluted and take it slowly, sip by sip.

I find the recipes for ginger shots very intriguing, but I haven't tried them out yet. I received a high-performance blender from my sweetheart as a birthday gift on June 6th and started the 7-day detox cleanse right on that day. I had already bought the ingredients beforehand, as I already knew what I was going to be gifted. I must say, I'm impressed with the first three detox smoothies and I'm already convinced of the power of a high-speed blender. They're nothing like the gritty green smoothies I used to drink. I find your website incredibly exciting and I discover new interesting topics and recipes almost every day. KEEP IT UP!
